Getting Started with DomainPatrol

Getting started with DomainPatrol is easy. You need to complete these four steps:

1. Obtain DomainPatrol Scanner Licenses
In order to run the Scanner there must be a license file for each server you want to scan. You can obtain demo license files that enable you to scan all your servers if you install the scanner (in step 2) on a Lotus Notes workstation. To obtain licenses for a server based scanner installation, please contact DomainPatrol at http://domainpatrol.org. Purchased server based license files are sent by email or they can be downloaded at the http://domainpatrol.org website.
Go to Setup, the Scanner Licenses view. Click the Start the "Obtain Client based Scanner Demo Licenses Wizard" button.

2. Download & Install the DomainPatrol Scanner
The Scanner can be installed on your Workstation or on a Server. If you install the Scanner on a Lotus Notes workstation then you can run it using the demo scanner license obtained using the wizard in step 1. If you install the scanner on a server you need to purchase and install a server license for each server to scan. When you purchase a server based scanner license, you will receive installation instructions to install the scanner on your servers.
Start the "Client based Scanner Download & Installation Wizard"

3. Create Scanner Job
Once the Scanner is installed it is time to create a Scanner Job. The Scanner Job contains information about which Servers you want to scan, how detailed information about the databases that you need and so on.
Go to the Scanner Job view. The click the Create new Scanner Job button

4. Run your first Scanner Job
The Scanner will browse your environment according to the settings in the Scanner Job. The information will be gathered into the DomainPatrol Inventory.
Go to the Scanner Job view. Select the Scanner job of your choice and click the Run selected job with client Scanner button.

After completing these four steps you will be able to move on with various actions in achieving control over your IBM Lotus Notes & Domino environment.
